trauma counselor for Women providing
Online EMDR Therapy In Texas
Want to embrace life without Anxiety?
Let me guess:
You can’t even remember a time when self-doubt, perfectionism, and people-pleasing weren’t the “norm.” The idea of things feeling easier may seem wild, but what if I told you it’s absolutely possible? Wouldn’t you welcome guidance to help you get there?
you’ve come to the right place.
I’m Larissa Smith, LCSW: Attachment Therapist
and Trauma Counselor in Texas
I help anxious women just like you, who are eager to discard self-doubt and people-pleasing tendencies, usually learned in relationships with difficult people. My training in attachment-based therapy and EMDR equips me with the expertise you need to address childhood trauma and patterns that refuse to let you go.
You can build a life that truly fits you. Let me teach you how.
I am passionate about helping women embrace their true selves.
As a counselor for women, I help clients like you build inner security and connections with others that feel good. I equip you with the tools necessary for clarity, deep healing, and healthy attachments.
Often, many solutions for things like anxiety and perfectionism focus primarily on self-control (i.e. just try harder and you’ll do better). When you struggle to implement things that seem “reasonable,” it can leave you convinced that you’re too flawed to change.
It is my firm belief that
you are not the problem.
You’re just overwhelmed by past experiences that echo in your mind, leaving you feeling stuck in a self-critical loop. This kind of change has to start at the root of your struggles, freeing you to take action on your own behalf.
Here’s the secret:
The best way forward is to look back
in therapy with me…
We PLAN together.
First, we’ll figure out what you’re carrying that needs to be released or healed, and we’ll identify any gaps where you need something you haven’t learned yet.
I walk with you.
Once we identify areas of focus, we’ll explore the experiences and memories that have shaped how you feel now. Our work will involve moving through a healing process to reprogram your instinctive reactions. Along the way we’ll develop insights and skills to address what feels hardest for you.
You see real change.
Through what we accomplish together, you’ll be empowered to prioritize what truly matters to you, and free yourself from the burdens that have held you back for too long.
My background
I’ve spent 10 years Laser-focused on Two facts:
1. Childhood experiences affect adult life, big time.
2. We can change how we feel about almost anything.
I’ve developed my own unique flavor blend of therapy that combines a healthy attachment framework with the power of EMDR trauma therapy. If you want to see real change, you have to let go of what you have but don’t need, and find what you need but don’t have.
I’m prepared to help you get there.

A little Insight into me
With me, you won’t Get a standard-issue Therapist
I grew up in East Texas, in a predictably conservative, comfortable environment. I was largely oblivious to the world around me until I became personally connected to a child with a history of trauma. That experience opened my eyes to the ways that children struggle and I decided to pursue a career in social work to get involved.
After college, I moved to Peru and lived there for several years. As I learned the language and adjusted to a very different environment, I became aware of my own culture in a way I couldn’t when I lived within it. I moved back to the USA 10 years ago and live in Texas again, but the conservative culture of my childhood no longer lives in me.
As a result, I have a unique perspective on how things that are considered “normal” can be harmful, especially for strong-willed young women restricted by conservative patriarchal structures. I want you to Feel Free!
After my cultural detox, I now love thinking outside the box, often using imagery and metaphors to understand human reality. I can geek out about the brain, attachment, relationships and the importance of clarity. I’ve invested years of training to become EMDRIA certified because once I could see the problems, I wanted to be really good at solving them! I love this work and feel honored by those who invite me into it with them.
With me, you’ll work with someone who can help you pinpoint the origins of your pain, and who knows exactly what to do about it.
In my personal life, I have been married for over 20 years and have three teenage children. I know full well the burdens and delights of the trenches. I look for joy in the small things like a quiet rainy day, a warm slice of fresh bread, new growth on a plant, the perfect cup of coffee. I like a good road trip to see something impressive in nature or to visit loved ones.
